Terra Beanie PDF english version
Description
The Terra Beanie is a lovely beanie that fits nicely, thanks to the ribbed hem.
The beanie features a beautifully soft color change as you swap out the mohair thread at the transition from the ribbed hem to the stockinette stitch pattern. You can also knit your beanie in a single color. It can be worn with either the right or wrong side facing outward.
Size
One size
Finished measurements
Fits a head circumference of approx. 54 – 60 cm
Materials
50 g Isager Tweed, 200 m/ 50 g or 50 g Alpaca 1, 400 m/50 g (held double) from Isager Yarn held together with, e.g., Silk Mohair 212 m/25 g from Isager Yarn.
The beanie in the picture is knitted with one strand of Isager Tweed, sand, and silk mohair in colors 6 (ribbed hem) and 34 (stockinette stitch part). One ball of mohair (25 g) is enough to knit a one-colored beanie.
You can choose any other yarn if you obtain the correct gauge.
Recommended needles
The beanie’s ribbed hem is knit on a circular needle of 4 mm (40-80 cm), and the stockinette stitch part is on a 4,5 mm (40-80 cm). When reaching the beanie’s top with decreases, change to a circular needle of 80 cm and knit using the magic loop method. I recommend using the magic loop technique for the whole project.
Gauge
The beanie’s ribbed hem is worked in rib (k1, p1) in the round on a 4 mm needle. The part knit is a stockinette stitch worked on a needle of 4,5 mm.
Gauge for rib on needle 4 mm: approx. 23 sts x 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Gauge for stockinette stitch on needle 4,5 mm: approx. 19 sts x 27 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
