Description

Fungus Shawl Blouse V-Neck Light is a roomy blouse with a shawl-inspired shape and a flattering V-neck. It is joined underneath each sleeve. The blouse features a wide ribbed edging that runs along the back neckline and continues down both sides of the V-neck. It is worked in a beautiful Moss stitch pattern double height.

The blouse begins with the ribbed edging that forms the back neckline. Stitches for the yoke are picked up along this edging, and the remaining edging is worked simultaneously with the yoke and front sections. The yoke is worked back and forth. Increases are made both inside the edging at each front edge to shape the V-neck, as well as on each side of the shoulder stitches, until the sleeves reach the desired length—just below the elbow. From there, the front and back are worked separately.

When the armhole reaches the correct depth, stitches are bound off under each arm on both front and back while the front and back are joined using a three-needle bind-off. The body is then worked in the round until it reaches the desired length.

The body is finished with ribbing and an I-cord bind-off. Stitches are picked up around the sleeve edges and finished with I-cord edges.

Finished Measurements

Waist width: 111 (118) 122 (127) 133 (137) 141 cm.

Sleeve length (measured along bound-off underarm edge): approx. 17 (18) 18 (19) 19 (19) 19 cm.

Body length (center back, including neckline edging): approx. 53 (55) 57 (59) 60 (62) 63 cm.

Due to its construction, the blouse has significant ease across the bust in all sizes. Therefore, waist width (the narrowest part of the garment) is given instead of bust measurement. The waist width reflects the measurement after the front and back are joined and the sleeves are formed, sitting approximately between the waist and hips.

If you have broad shoulders or long arms, consider going up 1–2 sizes to achieve the intended three-quarter sleeve length.

The model wears size XS and has narrow shoulders, slightly shorter arms, and a waist width of approximately 80 cm.

Materials

150 (150) 150 (200) 200 (250) 250 g Alpaca 1 by Isager Yarn (400 m / 50 g) held together with 150 (200) 200 (200) 250 (300) 300 g Trio 1 by Isager Yarn (350 m / 50 g).

The sample is worked in Alpaca 1 color 0 held together with Trio 1 color Linen.

You will also need 6 stitch markers, 2 of which should be removable.

Recommended Needles

The blouse is worked in moss stitch double height, back and forth and in the round, on a 3 mm circular needle (80–100 cm) using one strand of Alpaca 1 and one strand of Trio 1 held together.

Ribbing and I-cord edges on both body and sleeves are also worked on 3 mm needles.

Double-pointed needles 2.5 mm are used for the section of the neckline edging along the back neck (3 pieces recommended).

It is also recommended to have two circular needles of 3 mm so that stitches can be held on one needle while working with the other, or alternatively use a stitch holder cable.

Gauge

24 sts × 36 rows = 10 × 10 cm in moss stitch double height (worked back and forth or in the round) on 3 mm needles.
